Where they're better: Flagsmith and LaunchDarkly give you unlimited environments where we cap the labels at seven. ConfigCat and LaunchDarkly have far richer targeting rules than our cohorts, and LaunchDarkly's experimentation suite is in a different league. We do feature flags: unlimited, fast and at a price that doesn't move. If you need built-in experimentation or session replay, PostHog or LaunchDarkly will serve you better, and we'd rather tell you now.

Why we price this way

Most feature-flag tools bill you on a number you don’t control. Monthly active users, evaluation counts, service connections, seats. They all share a shape: the better your product does, the more you pay for the privilege of having shipped it. Your best month becomes your worst invoice.

That’s a strange thing to charge for. A feature flag is a boolean behind an API call. It doesn’t cost us meaningfully more to serve your millionth evaluation than your first, and it certainly doesn’t cost more because you hired a second backend engineer.

So we don’t charge for either. Pick a plan, invite everyone, ship to everybody, and pay the same amount next month. The pricing page doesn’t need a calculator. We did build one for everyone else’s bills, though: drag it to your scale and see what the meters would charge you.

Questions people actually ask

Every call your application makes to check whether a flag is on. We don't count them, cap them, or bill for them on any plan, including the free one. One customer serves millions of evaluations a month on Teams and pays the same A$79 as everyone else.

No. Teams and Ultra both include unlimited seats. Invite your whole engineering team, your product managers and your support staff, and the invoice doesn't move. The free Solo plan is a single user, which is the only place a seat limit applies.

Nothing. There is no overage billing, no monthly active user tier and no traffic cap, so a launch that goes well can't produce a surprise invoice.

Yes. RocketFlag is built in Perth, Western Australia and billed in AUD. A$79 is roughly US$52 at the time of writing, so for most overseas teams it's cheaper than the number suggests.

Teams comes with a 14-day trial and no credit card up front. If the trial lapses you can't create or change flags until you subscribe, but your existing flags keep serving from the evaluation API. A billing lapse should never take your application down.

No. RocketFlag is a managed service, deployed across seven regions so evaluations are served close to your users. If self-hosting is a hard requirement, an open-source tool like Unleash or Flipt is a better fit.

A/B testing, yes: set a flag to a 50% rollout and you have a stable two-way split, since users are bucketed consistently and won't flip between variants. Pair it with your analytics tool to measure the outcome. What we don't have is multivariate flags or a built-in stats engine, and that's deliberate: dedicated experimentation platforms do that job better, and staying focused is what keeps RocketFlag fast and the price flat.
